Billy McKnight Bio
Coach McKnight is entering his second year as Head Coach at the USBA.
Prior to the USBA he was Head Coach at Prolific Prep in Napa, California for four years recording a combined record of 118-25 (.788) while playing the toughest high school schedule in the country each of those four years. A member of The Grind Session, Prolific Prep accumulated the highest winning percentage on the circuit during that span and is widely regarded as one of the top high school programs in the world.
In four years at Prolific Prep, he produced:
Two straight “One and Done” NBA Draft Picks: Josh Jackson (Suns, 2017 NBA 1st Round # 4 Overall), Gary Trent Jr. (Trailblazers, 2018 NBA 2nd Round #37 Overall)
Three straight McDonalds All-Americans: Josh Jackson (2016), Gary Trent Jr. (2017), Jordan Brown (2018)
Sixteen D1 scholarship signees to schools including Duke, Kansas, Oregon, Xavier, Ohio St, Cal, UConn, Utah, Cincinnati, UCSB, Buffalo, Fordham, Nevada, Pacific, and Cal Poly San Louis Obispo
With twenty-three years of coaching experience, Coach McKnight has been a head coach at the High School, College, Professional, and International competition levels. Prior to Prolific Prep, he was the Head Coach at Shantou University in China (2 years) and Junior Team Head Coach in China‘s top Pro League, the Chinese Basketball Association (1 year).
Coach McKnight’s career has been rooted in his ability to develop players. He has spent thousands of hours in the gym working individually with several players that have gone on to professional careers in the NBA and overseas including NBA players Aaron Brooks, Gary Trent Jr, 2004 NBA Lottery Pick Luke Jackson, and 2017 NBA Lottery Pick Josh Jackson.
Billy graduated from UC San Diego (‘97 Bio—Chem) before earning his MBA at the University of Oregon while a member of the NCAA Division 1 University of Oregon’s coaching staff.
